Blood Shed
|If an Englishman’s home is his castle, what is his beloved and recently completed garden shed? For Jack it is a pristine, pine-scented and surprisingly economical erection which now sits at the end of the garden, a customised place of serenity and escape encapsulating his suburban dream which he has given life, not realising that it wants more lives.
Having sourced all the materials from specialist shops without reading the small print, the reclaimed timber and glass have a history as disturbing as the plot of land itself which Jack’s wife Helen has belatedly undertaken research on where he didn’t, for like the Carpenters, the trouble with the Hellshed has only just begun…
The writer of Severance and Cockneys vs Zombies, James Moran directs Shaun Dooley and Sally Phillips as the unassuming married couple finding they are in possession of a Blood Shed, another tale of ordinary people living ordinary lives impinged upon by a horror unleashed by their own unwitting, or perhaps witless, actions.
A significant portion of the budget having apparently been spent on (presumably) fake blood, Jack has become overly attached to his hungry outbuilding – “Bunty” – despite the mounting evidence and dwindling neighbourhood population, Hell Shed an aburdist upcycling which carries more than a hint of Creepshow in its perfectly constructed shivering timbers.
Blood Shed will be streaming on the Arrow platform from Friday 25th October
