Cut & Run

Night in the darkened city, the man runs, his white t-shirt vividly smeared in red with his own blood from when he cut himself trying to remove his ankle tag; he has stops to make, a collection of a package and then a delivery to make, possible if all goes according to plan, always running to keep one step ahead…

Ricky’s first stop at Davey’s apartment where he has to insist before he is allowed entry, it is immediately apparent that the man he thought of as a buddy is going to make this harder than it has to be, that nothing comes for free, that Davey thinks as little of Ricky as he does the woman passed out on the couch beside him…

A short film written and directed by Luke LeCount set on the streets and subways of New York, Cut & Run stars Rigo Garay as the desperate fugitive seeking a way out of the city with Skylar Sarkis as his acquaintance who was holding valuables for him who turns out to be less than trustworthy; treating people as objects to be used and exploited, it’s not betrayal if he feels no loyalty or obligation towards them.

An attitude which is going to set the tone for Ricky’s very bad night, his mother (Maga Uzo) is also displeased by his arrival, knowing that he is not supposed to be there, though as her anger burns out she relents, but while the performances of the three leads cannot be faulted Cut & Run feels to much like a fragment to make much impact beyond its runtime, a glimpse of a wider drama without resolution.

Cut & Run will be available on the Arrow platform from Friday 14th June
