There is a policy of “legacy acceptance” in fraternities where a family member of a previous initiate in good standing is looked upon more favourably in their application, and certainly Brent Chirino’s departure from the halls Delta Bi Theta was not at his instigation, one of many victims of the serial killer Motherface, vengeful daughter of an earlier killer who stalked East Chico University whom Brent helped defeat.

Now Brock’s twin brother Brent has joined the Delta Bi, meeting his brother’s friends and immediately tarnished by association by the long-suffering Dean Pepperstone who banishes them all to the cabin near New Lake City with strict instructions on how to comport themselves so as to avoid further catastrophes with the locals, a previous prank having burst the dam and flooded Parchtown, but no sooner do they depart than Dean Pepperstone is murdered – by Motherface.

Dude Bro Party Massacre III; Motherface (Olivia Taylor Dudley) rises from the ashes to take her revenge.

A slasher film within a film ostensibly taped from a midnight broadcast of the last surviving copy along with fragments of commercials, all others having been destroyed at the behest of President Reagan, Dude Bro Party Massacre III opens with a helpful therapy session montage of the previous dude bro party massacres, neither of which actually existed on film, though clearly the tragic events took place, at least within the heads of Motherface and Brent (Alec Owen).

Considerably longer than the micro format their work was initially presented in, the partially improvised production of the comedy troupe 5-Second Films is directed by Jon Salmon, Michael Rousselet and Tomm Jacobsen with interludes and kill montages by Joey Scoma from a script collated by Owen from multiple contributors, with the cast including Salmon, Paul Prado, Greg Sestero, Jimmy Wong, Kelsey Gunn, Patton Oswalt and Nina Hartley.

Dude Bro Party Massacre III; when an unstoppable skateboard meets and immovable wheelchair, what happens?

Principally a spoof of the evolving Friday the 13th series and its broad dysfunctional family, Dude Bro Party Massacre III is an occasionally smart movie about a lot of dumb people going about the complicated business of surviving, offering everything the title implies and promises on the bumpy road from the campus to the cabin to the kills, paralleled by a pair of bumbling police officers (Brian Firenzi and Maria Del Carmen) who carry their own issues along with their sidearms.

The unorthodox approach perhaps inevitably resulting in a patchwork film which is scattershot and uneven, there is enough frenzied energy to keep the wheels on the track and occasional unexpected movie magic such as the descent into the depths of old Parchtown, and carrying it all is the parade of practically achieved decapitations, dismemberments, slashings and stabbings, efficient and inventive; after all, Motherface knows best.
